Is this wrong, dying hair wearing makeup, etc.?

tanning, dressing in pretty clothes, wearing jewelry.

we do a lot of these things to improve our appearance, but is it wrong to want to look better to feel better about oneself? Is this wrong, dying hair wearing makeup, etc.?
I dont think it is at all. Good self esteem is a big part of being happy. Is this wrong, dying hair wearing makeup, etc.?
Here's a quick test:

Does it hurt others?

If it doesn't , it can't be wrong, and anybody claiming it's wrong is wrong himself.
Absolutely-you should not flaunt your body in front of the lord-nor make men lust
I think that if Christians were to study the bible closely they would find that God expressly forbids makeup and jewelry.

They will say that these rules are just social and adapt with the culture.

This is not a biblical stance at all. The bible says that the law of God doesn't change, and claiming the be 'culturally' exempt from the law is not written in the bible at all.

Being a true bible follower is a tough road to take and most Christians use excuses not to follow the laws set down by God in the Bible. But if they were being honest they would admit that they were really following cultural norms rather than the written word of God.

Even the New Testament is pretty clear on this one. Timothy states that women shouldn't be heard in church and should seek advise from their husbands only. It also states that they are saved through bearing children. If the bible is divine and the word of God then why don't Christians follow this teaching today? The bible mustn't be real, because Christians don't follow anything that isn't culturally acceptable.
it is not wrong sweety!
It's what you put on the inside, not the outside that counts. Just don't over do it to bring about temptation to a man,

Even a perfectly good bird house, needs a little paint on it.
Wong? why? the only thing wrong is to deny GOD
No, you're confusing suicide with hair coloring. One means to DIE by your own hands, the other means to DYE by your own hands.

But seriously, if you belong to a religion that considers pride to be a sin (Christianity, Buddhism, etc.), then yes, it's wrong. All the more reason why I reject those religions and shamelessly indulge in this sin.
No
no, saying that its wrong to dye hair because you dont like your natural hair color is like saying that its wrong to want to be sucsessful even if you were born in a poor family, and make-up is fine, as long as yo dont overdue it, most guys prefer to date girls over clowns.
No this is not wrong, but i think the natural beauty is best for life long. if you wearing makeup you will be looking nice but not to long time .
I don't really think so, no. It's natural and normal. Human beings are set up this way to try to attract a mate (even if that's not what is forefront on you mind when you are doing it). Also, dressing and looking a certain way points to a certain social status.

Personally, you should try to separate all that out with who you are on the inside, but no it's definitely not wrong.
not at all, its to make us happier and to feel better about ourselves, theres nothing wrong with that, and if anyone thinks so, they better keep that to themselves! but no, theres NOTHING wrong with it :)
I don't think so.

If it were, then we would all pretty much be the same person and we couldn't express ourselves.
Are you doing these things for yourself or for others? If you are doing it for yourself, there's nothing wrong with it, imo.

There are those who say these things are a temptation to sin. They aren't. After all, every woman wants to look her best.

I'm personally not into tanning salons but am sensible in my use of sunblock when out in the sun.

I like to look nice but don't believe in dressing immodestly.

As for hair dye, you want it to enhance your appearance not make you look like a freak. (Such horror stories!) So choose colors that go with your skin tone or have it done professionally in a salon.

A good haircut is a must since you don't want split ends. Going to a hair stylist who knows what she's doing can do you a world of good and is a great mood lifter.

The use of makeup is entirely up to you. Less is more, imo and you want to look natural. Lipstick is a woman's best friend. Maybe some blush and mascara.

As long as you aren't vain about your looks, it's all cool.
It doesn't matter one bit. You can be as simple and plain, or as flashy and sparkly as you want to be. It does not fit into the spiritual ';evaluation'; at all.
If it is, I'm in big trouble! lol

It's fine.
I dont think its wrong but I do think some people (a lot) take it way too far. Tanning in my opinion is not a good thing to do because it is very bad for your body.
You look great the way you are!
No its not wrong, but there are other things that can make you feel good about yourself other than looking good. By simply doing good little things by making someone else happy, helping other people, being nice to everyone you can feel better about yourself. It's not all about looks, that's for shallow people.
No these things are not wrong.
there are lots of opinions on this one. The Amish would say it's wrong as would other religions that feel doing so is vain. Vanity is conditioned into this culture every moment with just about any visual media you could mention. And I don't think most people who subscribe to the conditioned vanity do so consciously. They're just going along with the crowd, wanting to fit in. But you do have to be careful what you buy into. Consciously or unconsciously, the price for your actions is the same.
I do not mean to offend you sorry if I do.

Why does it make you feel better about yourself, when men stare at you like wolves stare at prey.

Isn't that a kind of oppression that women have to make themselves into so men find them attractive. Because this is designed by men in the first place, so a woman is only beautiful if she fits into this idea of man.

Think about it
Its all vanity ! More important what do you think?
There's nothing wrong with it, but doing it just to fill the hole left by not being confident in yourself is wrong. I'm not saying this is what you are doing, but many girls I know desperately try to make themselves look better so others will accept them I guess when really there's only one person's opinion that matters.

A lot of girls wear too much makeup too, especially ones with such natural beauty.
If you're a christian who follows the new testament, it is. I should be shocked at the number of christians who told you otherwise. They obviously haven't read the bible lately.

For those of us who don't follow bronze age middle eastern male dominated texts, no, there's nothing wrong with it at all.
ABSOLUTELY NOT, only if you're 5 years old.
I don't think its wrong at all, women like to feel and look beautiful. Who cares if men don't understand. Tanning can make you less attractive though, because it causes you to prematurely age.
I think it is wrong if you care other's attention more then God's attention in your life. As long as you dont confuse this hierarchy, it is Ok. After all , people didnt create you and prepared a heaven for you.
For some faith's its considered wrong because you are tempting a man or giving in to vanity.

I personally think there is nothing wrong with feeling cute.
you must be pretty religious. Even if you are as long as it doesn't cross the line of being vain you should be alright. There is nothing wrong w/ feeling good about yourself. God made us social beings.

I'm not religious by the way.
